On June 10, Westfield Bank President Jon Park accepted a regional finalist award for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2009. The award ceremony took place at Playhouse Square in downtown Cleveland where 28 Northeast Ohio company leaders were acknowledged for their entrepreneurship.
Park was recognized for his entrepreneurial vision in growing Westfield Bank into one of the region's most innovative financial services company and one of Northeast Ohio's fastest growing savings banks. His vision involves a model that breaks away from the traditional bank with costly branch offices and focuses on online customer transactions and bank representatives that are mobile, going to customers wherever and whenever they are needed.
"We are proud that Westfield Bank is thriving and winning market share in Northeast Ohio," commented Park. "As many banks struggle to survive, we are safe and secure and continue to grow."
This is Park's second regional final award for Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year over the last four years; he was also named regional finalist in 2005.
"I appreciate the support we've received from Westfield Insurance, whose vision to diversify into banking made our journey possible," Park said. "And a special thanks to our talented team of bankers who continue to help our company fulfill its vision."
For 23 years, Ernst & Young has recognized thousands of entrepreneurs throughout Northeast Ohio whose vision, leadership and record of achievement continue to impact communities. Exceptional entrepreneurs are selected by an independent judging panel made up of regional business, academic and community leaders.
